Mechanical Engineer/Change Engineer – Columbus,OH Refer a Person Apply for this Job

Job Description

  • Work on 3D CAD modeling software (Creo and Solid Edge) for designing of Mechanical components of Vertiv.
  • Generate complex Parts, Assemblies with BOM, Assembly Checking Drawings and Manufacturing Detail Drawings - with ASME Y 14.5 standards, apply GD&T and Stack-up Analysis to meet Vertiv requirements.
  • Responsible for design, development from concept, through tooling, testing, and into production.
  • Create mechanical components designs which meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements and within budgetary requirements.
  • Apply Design for manufacturability & Assembly (DFM&A) for efficient design optimization
  • Reverse Engineer Vertiv’s existing systems for physical parts & line structures using Co-ordinate measuring machine (CMM).
  • Research of newer technologies to enhance and make the existing Vertiv products more cost effective.
  • Review and approve mechanical product submittals and ensuring Vertiv’s standards are meet.
  • Support product development team throughout the design and development process by performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and validation of mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Handling load calculation to arrive at sheet thickness requirements for designs as per Vertiv’s standards.
  • Support prototype/product testing as needed – typically assisting in thermal, mechanical layout, and mechanical strength issues
  • Concepts and final design review meetings with Client Engineers/Managers, Line Technicians & Operators
  • Interact with team members to efficiently breakdown tasks, discuss design or modification ideas, and work through tradeoffs and issues with a high degree of collaboration
  • Preparing necessary materials as per Vertiv’s standards for meetings and trainings.
  • Revise product documentation in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database using our revision control system
  • Write, submit, release Engineering changes to new and released product documentation in CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) database using our revision control system.
  • Designate change control board personal and establish review process and activities.
  • Validate engineering change request submittals and ensure compliance with approved processes.
  • Manage and control design information as per engineering design standards.
  • Initiate a workflow, review workflow status, Terminate Workflow, make routing changes, track project status, Generate Workflow reports for Ageing of ECOs and ECRs.
  • Responsible to process and release engineering change orders as per Vertiv Change control process.
  • Track new and pending regulatory requirements that affect engineering and provide support to meet these requirements

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • AutoCAD, Solidworks, Creo & Solid Edge & Ansys, GD& T, DFM&A, Sheet Metal, New Product Development & Oracle PD Cloud.
  • Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Must have the ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
